Advanced Eye Diagnostics
Dr Nor Diyana provides optical coherence tomography (OCT), visual field testing and HESS chart assessments at Pantai Hospital Klang, Selangor. These tests complement your eye examination to support diagnosis, guide treatment and monitor changes over time.
Types of Diagnostic Eye Tests
When Are These Tests Recommended?
Diagnostic tests may be recommended when an eye examination reveals changes that need further assessment, or when symptoms such as blurred vision, missing areas of vision or double vision require investigation.
They may also be used to monitor an existing condition or assess your response to treatment. Dr Nor Diyana will recommend the appropriate tests based on your symptoms and examination findings.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
OCT is a non-invasive scan that uses light to produce detailed cross-sectional images of the retina and measure the nerve fibre layers around the optic nerve. It helps assess and monitor conditions such as macular swelling, diabetic eye disease, age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma.
Visual Field Testing
Visual field testing measures sensitivity across your central and peripheral vision. It helps identify areas of reduced vision associated with glaucoma, retinal conditions and disorders affecting the visual pathways.
HESS Chart Assessment
A HESS chart records how your eyes align in different directions of gaze. It helps assess eye movement imbalances in patients with double vision and monitor changes over time.
For an OCT scan, you will rest your chin on a support and look at a target while images are captured. The scanner does not touch your eye.
During visual field testing, you will look at a central target and press a button whenever you see a small light appear. Each eye is usually tested separately.
For a HESS chart assessment, you will wear red-green glasses and align a light with targets on a screen. The results help map the alignment of your eyes in different gaze positions.
Please bring your current glasses, a list of medications and any previous eye reports or scan results. If dilating drops are needed, your vision may be temporarily blurred and sensitive to light, so bring sunglasses and arrange someone to drive you home.
Dr Nor Diyana will interpret the results alongside your eye examination and explain their significance. Repeat testing may be recommended to confirm findings or monitor changes over time.
